We were all seated around Aunt Beck's huge table with this fabulous feast and all I could have was Turkey broth, carefully sipped with a straw. It was worth it though. She was the most loving dachshund and very well mannered. She had a heart attack in her old age so I gave her Basic plus everyday and she lived several more years after the episode. My next dachshund was Rosie. She got so huge when she was pregnant that we had to put a roller skate under her tummy to stop it from being scraped raw. Rosie had a fetish for Juicy Fruit gum and would chew an entire 18 stick pack that Grandpa used to get for her. After Rosie, I got Angelina. Appropriately named. She was better than a door bell. If anyone came to the door she would bark and bark. The minute I opened the door she would rush out and begin licking the feet of whoever was at the door. Quite the welcome wagon. Now it's Romeo who is our jumping licker in perpetual motion. It's still too soon to see how he will turn out. Thank you Linda for all the memories. P.S. I think we evaded all the diseases because God knew the heart of two young girls who were and still are best of friends so he sent us Guardian Angels to watch over us. And boy did we need it. Remember piling on 6 of us on Major's back to ride down to the Cooley. I still think about how all of us kids didn't fall off and get hurt. There was you, Billy, Shirley, Lonna, Terry, and Me.
