The FDA has drafted a proposal to regulate what it calls New Dietary Ingredients. If this proposal is implemented, some of the most effective nutrients you take will be pulled from the market.

If passed, this New Dietary Ingredient guideline can define ALMOST ANYTHING as a “new” dietary ingredient. For example:

If a supplement includes more of an ingredient than was used 17 years ago–even if it is the same ingredient–it’s” new”.

If an ingredient uses a different extraction process–it’s” new”.

If a supplement uses an ingredient at a different “life state” such as using ripe rather than non-ripe apples–it’s “new”.

If a supplement duplicates an ingredient in a laboratory rather than extracting it from food–even though it’s chemically identical–it’s “new”.

If a probiotic formula includes a strain of bacteria that wasn’t found in yogurt 17 years ago, it’s “new”.

So what would happen to all these “new” ingredient? The manufacturers would have to take them off the market until they could PROVE the ingredients are safe–even if those ingredients have been safely used for 17 years!

WHY IT’S NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO COMPLY

What kind of proof is the FDA demanding in these new guidelines? They want animal conducted studies using a dosage that’s 1,000 times the typical dose for a full year. If a company uses the same ingredient as another company, it doesn’t matter, both companies must perform the same test studies. An average study costs between $100,00-$200.00 to perform per ingredient. Multiply that by several ingredients in several products and you get an idea of the entire burden of cost the FDA is demanding.

Few supplement companies will be able to afford these studies so many companies will be put out of business. Those companies that do survive will be at the mercy of the FDA’s whims. Interestingly there are NO REQUIREMENTS for the FDA to approve anything. They can approve or reject anything they want and historically they have rejected the majority of ingredients submitted to them.

What this means is that MOST OF THE NUTRIENTS YOU BUY TODAY WILL BE PULLED FROM THE MARKET and never return. Those that do return will be a lot more expensive or only offered as a prescription drug.

This is a blatant abuse of power and the freedom of choice! Current law states that the FDA has to PROVE a dietary supplement is unsafe before it can be taken off of the market. These new guidelines are an end-run around existing law and should be stopped.

December 1, 2011 is the deadline for public comment on this law. The only way it can be defeated is to TALK and WRITE to the people you have elected to represent you–your congressman and your U.S. Senators. They have the power to reign in the FDA and have done it in the past when enough voters have complained.

Go to: www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml. This web address is case sensitive. Type it exactly as it appears. On the web site look up the phone numbers of your U.S. Senators and your Representative (congressman) and their addresses. Then give them a call and follow up with a letter.

Don’t be shy with your opinions or feelings. The job of the staffers who answer is to listen politely and to relay what you say to their boss. PLEASE CALL, BE POLITE, AND TAKE ACTION AND DON’T FORGET TO ALSO WRITE!!

Then send the same letter you have written to your senators and congressman to President Obama. His address is at the same web site www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml. Please don’t make the mistake thinking the FDA won’t take away your supplements. Similar regulations have been passed in other countries and the results are disastrous. In some cases it decimated the entire supplement industry in some countries.

Consider the following points when writing and talking to your representatives:

1. I request Congress direct the FDA to review their draft guidance. If they do not amend the guidance to reflect my concerns, I request Congress call hearings at the end of the review process. I also call on Congress to write legislation that would “grandfather” all supplements currently on the market.

2. The FDA already has ample regulatory authority to take action against a product if it’s unsafe. They don’t need to have this pre-approval power too.

3. Supplements have an unrivaled safety record. Statistics show they’re safer than drugs, safer than medical devices, safer than cosmetics, and even safer than food in some cases.

4. The FDA wants to wipe out 17 years’ worth of innovation and 17 years’ worth of benefits to the consumer after doing nothing about new dietary ingredients for the past 17 years. Why now?

5. The FDA cannot define New Dietary Ingredients so broadly as defined in the new guidelines. These new guidelines put almost everything as a New Dietary Ingredient which will strangle innovation and deprive consumers of the supplements they depend on for their health.

6. When the Dietary Health Supplement Education Act was passed, Congress intended a simple notification process for new dietary ingredients. The FDA is turning this into a pre-approval scheme, which goes against the intent of the law.

7. At a time when preventative measures are even more important to health care costs, the FDA is limiting access to preventative health care. This could be disastrous to public health.

8. The cost of complying with these new guidelines will put many companies out of business. The economy is already hurting and we have high unemployment. Experts estimate that this could cost the economy tens of billions of dollars and result in the loss of tens of thousands of jobs.

9. The government’s resources are already stretched. We have record budget deficits and record debt. Why enact more regulations when there are NO safety issues here?

Please, please take action now. There is only a small window of opportunity to make your voice heard. Get started by going to www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml.

Thank you,

Dr. Janeel Henderson

From the time I was a very young child up to young adulthood, I spent each summer living with my grandparents, working on their farm in Kimberly, Idaho. The farm had milk cows, chickens, pigs, cats, dogs, and of course my horse and my sister’s horse. We children were a source of “free labor” and labor we did. Hoeing long rows of beans, beets, thinning beets, bailing hay, harvesting grain, not to mention milking cows each morning beginning at 4:00 A.M. and again each evening, and heaven forbid– the dreaded chickens and rooster who took particular delight in making my life “miserable” as they pecked my legs and hands as I gathered their eggs.

Animals have always been an integral part of my life. I love them! I’ve lost track of how many cats and dogs have been in my life along with my beloved horses. In fact, the first acquisition my husband and I made after we were married was a tropical fish tank with beautiful fish and two cats. Now I know you probably think what a strange combination, but the cats loved watching the fish swim as much as we enjoyed them. Our children grew up with animals so it was only natural for them to start their “animal family” along with having their children.

Romeo is the latest addition to the family. He is an exuberant dachshund who is in perpetual motion, wiggling, jumping, and trying to lick and kiss you constantly. He is well named but his kissing is what I want to address.

Pets can be a real blessing. They can offer an alternative to medications to help improve mental and physical health. Research shows all kinds of conclusive evidence that pets can help heal and soothe health complaints. Heart attack victims who have pets live longer. Watching a tank full of tropical fish may help lower your blood pressure, at least temporarily. Pets brought into nursing homes can improve people’s moods, desire and ability to interact socially.

But, even healthy pets can carry parasites, bacteria or viruses that can cause mild to life-threatening illness in people. Of the 250 zoonotic diseases–meaning infections transmitted between animals and people–more than 100 come from domestic pets. Infections transmitted to people after sleeping with their cat or dog, kissing them or being licked by the pet include: hook worm; ringworm, roundworm, cat scratch disease, and drug-resistant staph infections.

Researchers estimate that several million infections are passed between pets and people annually in the United States, ranging from skin conditions to life-threatening illnesses. People with weakened immune systems are at greater risk for getting an infection from an animal. These include seniors, children younger than five years, people with HIV/AIDS and cancer patients.

Owners can stay healthy by practicing good hygiene habits. Wash your hands with soap and hot water after handling pets, especially puppies, kittens, or any aged cat or dog with diarrhea. These “high-risk pets” are more likely to harbor an infection that could be passed to people. Immediately wash any area licked by a pet. Keep your pets free of fleas, ticks, and routinely de-worm them and have regular examinations by your veterinarian.

Now a word about wild animals and birds. Raccoons are frequently infected with the parasite called Baylisascaris procyonis. Infected raccoons with this worm dump hundreds of thousands of parasite eggs in their feces. All you have to do is touch a spot where an infected raccoon has been and the parasite can transfer to your own body. The parasite can transfer to your pets, and then infect you via your pets. This worm literally eats your brains. Fatality is as high as 30%. With children even higher.

Lyme disease is traditionally associated with ticks. However, it can be carried by all kinds of wild birds, raccoons, deer, elk, antelope just to mention a few. The wild birds and animals can deposit the spirochete, Borrelia burghdorferi onto grass, bushes, dirt etc. through their eliminations. If you or your pet brush against or come in contact with the spirochete or an elimination then even though you haven’t received a tick bite, you can contract Lyme disease. A year ago in Utah there was a news report on a new community being infected with Lyme disease. The County Health department couldn’t figure out why so many children and adults all in one area were being infected and getting sick, since none of them had come in contact with a tick. The children in the development were playing in an undeveloped lot. Field mice living in the tall grass and weeds were carrying the spirochete and depositing it onto the grass and weeds via their eliminations. When the children came in contact with these deposits, they were infected. This information was completely contrary to popular information that only a Tick embedded in your skin could produce Lyme disease.

Cats carry toxoplasmosis. If a woman is pregnant and has a cat that uses an indoor kitty box, then while she is pregnant she should not clean the kitty box because of potential harm to her unborn child. If a pregnant woman knows a cat that has feline leukemia, she should avoid all physical contact with the cat. Dogs carry worms. Again the best defense is a consistent de-worming program for your dog.

Owning a pet can and should outweigh any risks with proper precautions and good hygiene habits. I wouldn’t give up any of my pets. They are an integral part of my life and my family. My father use to tell me that an animal or pet would never teach me a bad habit, but I could teach the animal or pet a bad habit.

With colder weather coming, take appropriate measures to care for your pets. Make certain they have a clean, healthy environment. In summary, allow them to give their unconditional love to you and enjoy the experience.

Commercial pigs lead the way.

Researchers added one nutrient to commercial pig’s food and watched the pigs change their body composition as if by magic. Nothing else was changed–just the addition of one nutritional nutrient. Yet the pigs got leaner while increasing muscle composition.1

The University of Kentucky got the very same results in their study. Pigs increased their percentage of muscle and decreased their percentage of fat.2

So what is the nutrient that the pigs received? Chromium. But pigs aren’t the only ones telling the tale. An Austrian study gave one group of people a calorie-restricted diet and another group chromium for 26 weeks. The people in the chromium group lost just as much weight as the people eating almost nothing. And, just like the pigs, they had increased lean muscle mass.3 The people who had dropped weight through calorie restriction were then given chromium and they were able to increase their lean muscle mass without gaining weight back.

So, what’s so special about chromium?

Chromium is a co-factor for insulin. It handles one of the problems of why people become obese. Chromium makes your insulin more efficient because it helps insulin take sugar and turn it into energy. That helps decrease insulin production so that the body won’t take sugar from the blood stream and store it as fat. But a hormone called leptin can be another problem why people are overweight.

Leptin is a hormone that does two things: It sends out the “I’m full” signal to your brain, and it tells fat inside your cells to break down, so it can be burned as energy. But leptin is very sensitive to high fructose corn syrup.

High fructose corn syrup contained in food makes the body pump out too much leptin so your body ignores the “full” signal. The body thinks it needs to keep eating and storing more fat because it thinks it’s out of energy. This puts a higher demand on chromium levels within the body to try and help insulin take the high fructose corn syrup sugar from the blood stream and turn it into energy to avoid fat storage. But the low levels of leptin send the signal to store fat and storing fat is easier than burning fat for energy, especially if there is insufficient amount of chromium to aid insulin in taking sugar and burning it for energy; so fat storage wins over energy production.

Modern nutrition advice suggest eating mostly grains and lean meat which provide very little dietary chromium. Studies show 90 percent of Americans aren’t getting enough chromium through food.4 Consumption of junk food which is full of sugar can form phytic acid. This binds to chromium and prevents it from being absorbed in the body. Fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides are used on our food crops. They deplete important trace minerals like chromium from the soil so that foods become deficient. Stomach medication like antacids also block chromium absorption. And then there is age. As we get older it become tougher to retain chromium.5

Dr. Douglass M.D. sent me a brief email in which he addressed both cell phone safety and airport security. I thought his comments might be of interest. July through January is traditionally the heaviest air travel time of each year. Many people choose to take family vacations, go to family reunions, and enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday traveling during these months. Many jobs require constant travel for their employees.

I was visiting with a doctor friend who will be gone the entire month of August for some extensive, intensive training in his field. He was lamenting the fact that he would be without any cell phone and computer service, nor have access to any electricity for the entire month due to the remote location of where he would be. Cell phones have become a standard necessity for most individuals. I see them attached to belts, inside pant pockets, inside suit pockets, inside purses, and in back packs. You can’t go into any public building without seeing people busy texting, talking, or dialing. In short, we are a nation that is “plugged” in. In a way, I think we have lost the art of social etiquette and have created a feeling of isolation for many people who stay electronically busy but are starved for real human companionship.

Enjoy the excerpt from Dr. Douglass:

Don’t believe latest cell-cancer research

Cellphones… off the hook as far as cancer risk is concerned?

A new study makes the ridiculous claim that mobile phones are perfectly safe after all — so keep right on yapping, and ignore that little headache that won’t go away when it pops up in a few years.

It’s probably nothing, right?

And if it turns out to be a tumor, well, let’s find something else to blame it on — because researchers say there’s no way it was caused by your cellphone.

Yeah, right.

This “new” study isn’t all that new — just a new look at old data from a study that no one took seriously anyway because its conclusions were all over the place.

For example, the study — called Interphone — actually found that cellphone users have a lower risk of brain tumors… and a higher risk at the same time.

If that’s not confusing enough, it was based on data collected from people who used their phones for an average of just two hours a month.

I know people who talk on these things for at least two hours a day!

Make sure you’re not one of them — because a much stronger new study finds that regular cellphone use can boost the odds of a brain tumor by nearly 500 percent.

Swedish researchers matched data on 1,200 brain cancer patients to 2,500 controls with no signs of the disease and found that people who started using cellphones as teens and kept at it for at least a decade were 4.9 times more likely to develop a tumor than non-cell users.

The researchers found a similar link with cordless phones, which are less powerful than cellphones but operate on similar frequencies.

I know the reality is that most people aren’t giving up cellphones and they’re certainly not going back to the days of twisted, tangled phone cords no matter what the studies show.

But if you’re going to use these things, at least be smart about it. Use earpieces and speakerphones as much as possible — and keep them far away from your kids and grandkids.

Speaking of cancer risk, keep reading for the latest on airport scanners.

Full-body scanners blamed for cancer spike

Airport workers say radioactive full-body scanners have already caused a spike in cancers — and normally, I’d be the first the call that claim ridiculous.

These cancers usually take years to form, not months.

But…

The feds have been caught lying about these machines every step of the way — and they STILL haven’t come forward with real safety data on them.

And that means for all we know, full-body scanners can send tumors down the HOV lane — causing cancers at frightening new speeds among anyone unlucky enough to stand next to one of these machines all day.

A stunning sequence of internal documents obtained by the Electronic Privacy Information Center reveal not only the potential cancer cluster, but also a consistent pattern of lies, half-truths, and deliberate misinformation.

For example: Last year, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano wrote in a USA Today op-ed that the National Institute of Standards and Technology had declared the scanners to be safe.

That was news to NIST.

The Institute quickly sent out an email that basically says, “HEY! We said no such thing!”

You can read that behind-the-scenes smackdown for yourself right here.

NIST isn’t the only agency to back away from the TSA’s preposterous safety claims.

The agency has at one point or another claimed that the FDA, the U.S. Army Public Health Command, the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory and the Health Physics Society have all helped test the machines and confirm their safety.

Just one little problem: AOL News reports all of those agencies have denied or downplayed their supposed involvement.

If all that isn’t bad enough, consider this: The feds say al Qaeda is planning to surgically implant bombs into terrorists — and the TSA admits its full-body scanners wouldn’t catch these under-the-skin explosives.

Is it true… or just a story fabricated to prepare us for the next, and even more invasive, wave of airport scanners?

Stay tuned.

Keeping an eye on Big Sister,

William Campbell Douglass II, M.D.

EWG’S report identifies the six worst brands of bottled water you can buy

1. Whole Foods Italian Still Mineral Water

2. Vintage Natural Spring Water

3. Sahara Premium Drinking Water

4. O Water Sport Electrolyte

5. Enhanced Purified Drinking Water

6. Market Basket Natural Spring Water

7. Cumby’s Spring Water

Answers to three critical questions should be on all bottled water’s labels:

1. Where does the water come from?

2. Is it purified and if so, how?

3. Is the water tested, and what, if any, contaminants have been found?

Nine of the top ten best-selling brands fail to provide answers to these three questions, and, according to EWG of the 173 bottled water products they surveyed only Nestle’s Pure Life Purified Water discloses this information on their label along with information for requesting a water quality test report.

The three brands that earned EWG’S highest possible rating are:

1. Nestle Pure Life Purified Water

2. Gerber Pure Purified Water

3. Penta Ultra-Purified Water

Did you know that40 % of all bottled water is regular tap water which may not receive any additional treatment? In fact, most municipal tap water must adhere to stricter purity standards than the bottled water industry. The EPA requires large public water suppliers to test for contaminants as often as several times a day but the FDA requires private bottlers to test for contaminants only one a week, once a year, or once every four years, depending on the contaminant. The EWG revealed 3 low-level contaminants in bottled water with ten tested brands containing an average of 8 chemicals including:

1. Disinfection by products (DBPs)

2. Caffeine

3. Tylenol

4. Nitrate

5. Industrial chemicals

6. Arsenic

7. Bacteria

Another hazard that can be found in both tap and bottled water is fluoride. Many companies add it to their bottled water. And, the bottle itself can contaminant the water inside of it. Plastic bottles contain a variety of health harming chemicals that can leach out and contaminate the water such as:

1. Cancer causing PFOAs

2. PBDEs (flame retardant chemicals) which have been linked to reproductive problems and altered thyroid levels

3. The reproductive toxin, phthalates

4. BPA which disrupts the endocrine system by mimicking the female hormone estrogen

If you leave your water bottle in a hot car, or reuse it, your exposure is magnified because heat and stress increase the amount of chemicals that leach out of the plastic. Your water bottle container needs to receive just as much attention as the water itself, and plastic is simply not a wise choice from a health perspective, not to mention the extreme amounts of toxic waste put into the environment.

The EWG end their report with the preferred choice recommendation to drink filtered tap water and Reverse Osmosis with triple charcoal filtration. Chose a unit that is NSF certified which will address all of the chemicals found in well water, urban water supplies along with any lead that might leach into the water if your residence has old plumbing. A whole house water filter is best for removing chlorine and bacteria and other impurities. For drinking purposes the Reverse Osmosis is the overall best option because it will remove fluoride and other very difficult contaminants in the water besides chlorine, bacteria, and drugs.

By Dr. Mercola

It’s a well-established fact that clean, pure water is a foundational cornerstone of good health. What’s open for discussion, however, is what constitutes “clean, pure water.”

There are many opinions and much confusion about which kind of water imparts the greatest health benefits, particularly when it comes to its pH.

I recently addressed the danger of alkaline water. In this segment I’ll address distilled water, and review the pro’s and con’s of reverse osmosis water filtration. Since most water sources are now severely polluted, the issue of water filtration and purification couldn’t be more important.

It’s unfortunate, but the value of plain water is vastly underrated by most experts when it comes to achieving optimal health.

I’m convinced that we could prevent many of our chronic health problems if we would simply start replacing all soda and nearly all commercial fruit juices with pure water.

As you may know by now, the number one source of calories in the U.S. comes from high fructose corn syrup primarily in the form of soda. Americans drink an average of one gallon of soda each week, and this excessive fructose consumption is a driving force behind obesity and chronic degenerative disease in this country.

Drinking alkaline or ionized water, however, is not a healthful choice in the long run, and as you will see, neither is drinking distilled water…

Why I Do Not Recommend Drinking Distilled Water

Long before natural health enthusiasts began touting the benefits of alkaline water, there were similarly glowing claims for distilled water.

During distillation, water is boiled and evaporated away from its dissolved minerals, and then the vapor is condensed and the resulting water droplets collected. Distilled water is an active absorber, and when it makes contact with air, it quickly absorbs carbon dioxide and becomes acidic.

Since it is free of dissolved minerals and other particles, it has the ability to absorb toxic substances from your body and eliminate them.

However, although drinking distilled water may be helpful when detoxifying for a week or two, the longer you drink it, the more likely you’ll develop mineral deficiencies and an acidic state.

You can rapidly lose electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride) and trace minerals, which can cause cardiac irregularities, high blood pressure, and cognitive/emotional disturbances.

In a paper by F. Kozisek of the World Health Organization (WHO), water low in calcium and magnesium, such as distilled water, is associated with the following health problems:

Cardiovascular disease

Higher risk of bone fracture in children

Neurodegenerative diseases

Motor neuronal diseases

Pre-term births, low birth weights, and preeclampsia

Various types of cancer

Increased risk of “sudden death”

Acute magnesium and calcium deficiency, weakness, fatigue and muscle cramping

Clearly, changing the water you drink can have profound and potentially disastrous effects on your health, as this research shows.

For these reasons, I’ve been discouraging people from drinking distilled water for well over a decade now, but there are other far more problematic issues with distilled water that make potential mineral deficiencies pale in comparison.

Distilled Water is Only as Pure as the Water You Begin With…

One of the primary benefits commonly attributed to distilled water is its lack of contaminants.

However, this usually turns out to be far from true…

Why?

There are two primary reasons why your distilled water may not be as pure as you’d like to think:

Any contaminant in the water that vaporizes at a lower temperature than the water, such as volatile organic compounds, such as disinfection byproducts that are thousands of times as toxic as chlorine, will be condensed and actually concentrated in the finished distilled water. So what you end up with is water that contains even more dangerous contaminants than what you started with.

Because the water is acidic and demineralized, it will pull contaminants out of whatever container you put it in.Many distillers on the market are made of metal, which will actually add certain toxic metals like nickel back into the water. And if you use a distiller with a plastic bottle, you have a number of plastic chemicals to contend with – many of which we now know are extremely toxic.

The Most Shocking Fact About Distilled Water

In recent years we’ve learned a lot about the dangers of disinfection byproducts (DBPs) found in most treated water supplies, such as trihalomethanes (THMs) and haloacetic acids (HAAs).

These DBPs form when water treatment disinfectants such as chlorine, chloramines, and chlorine dioxide react with natural organic matter in the source water.

Researchers have now discovered that DBPs are over 10,000 times more toxic than chlorine, and out of all the other toxins and contaminations present in your water, such as fluoride and miscellaneous pharmaceutical drugs, DBPs may be the absolute worst.

Trihalomethanes (THMs), for example, are Cancer Group B carcinogens, meaning they’ve been shown to cause cancer in laboratory animals. They’ve also been linked to reproductive problems in both animals and humans, and human studies suggest that lifetime consumption of chlorine-treated water can more than double the risk of bladder and rectal cancers in certain individuals.

The process of distilling actually worsens the presence of these extremely toxic contaminants in your water because anything that vaporizes at a lower temperature than water, such as volatile organic compounds (VOC’s and trihalomethanes (THM’s), will also be boiled and condensed.

Sure, the heavy metals are left behind. Lead, for example, will not vaporize. But chlorine will change into chloroform during the distillation process, and will be present in your distilled water.

Distilled Water is Actually MORE Toxic than Municipal Tap Water

So, not only will distillation not remove one of the most significant toxins in water, which are the DBPs, it may actually deliver a more concentrated dose of them.

AND, you’re also drinking whatever chemical or metal contaminants the water has dissolved out of the container it’s stored in!

Talk about a double-whammy of toxic contamination!

This fact alone should be reason enough to ditch the idea that distilled water might be good for you, unless you start with entirely pure water to begin with, which defeats the whole purpose of distilling it.

Remember that every municipal water supply is treated with chlorine or chlorine like substance that will induce the formation of disinfection byproducts in your water supply. So unless you are using the distiller on well water, you need to be very concerned about this.

A volatile organic compound is a chemical that vaporizes at a lower temperature than water and has carbon in it. And there are hundreds of thousands of volatile organic compounds out there, including benzenes, trihalomethanes, and trichloroethylene. Exactly what and how much of these toxic compounds are in your source water will naturally vary from one location to another.

Many of these are industrial organic solvents that are very destructive to the human body. Many if not most of them are carcinogenic at extremely low levels.

DBPs, for example, are measured in parts per BILLION, and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sets the goal for some of these byproducts at zero because they are so dangerous. Unfortunately the EPA goal is impossible to enforce.

Still, the maximum annual average of THMs in your local water supply cannot exceed 80 ppb (parts-per-billion), and the maximum annual average of HAAs permitted by EPA regulations is 60 ppb.

It goes without saying that if distilling were to concentrate these contaminants just a little bit, the consequences to your health could be quite severe.

The Drawbacks Clearly Outweigh Any Potential Benefits

So, in the end, distilled water:

Is expensive

Is energy intensive

Doesn’t remove VOC’s and DBPs

Is ineffective at removing toxic fluoride

Draws out chemicals and metal contaminants from whatever container it’s stored in

Leaches minerals from your body which can lead to health problems

On the positive side, it may help draw out toxins during a short-term detoxification program, but all in all, I believe the drawbacks are stacked quite high and clearly outweigh any perceived benefit.

A Special Note on Removing Fluoride from Your Drinking Water

Distillation also will not effectively remove fluoride, another dangerous element added to most water supplies.

Distillation can remove an estimated 55-60 percent of fluoride, but the rest will get transferred. A reverse osmosis system is slightly more effective, capable of removing about 80 percent of fluoride.

Currently, the only commercially viable way to get non-detectable levels of fluoride (in water that is been treated with fluoride) that I know of is using an activated aluminum filtration system. However, I’m not convinced it will remove all volatile compounds…

The real solution is to convince the US to stop water fluoridation altogether, a campaign I’m currently waging together with the Fluoride Action Network.

I urge you to join us and get involved at any level you can.

If this is a topic that interests you, I would strongly encourage you to sign up for their site as we are shortly going to launch a social networking strategy that will allow you to network with those in your local community so you can initiate the process to have fluoride removed from your water supply.

This is clearly the best solution and it will also produce an improvement in the public health of your community, so you would be doing a major service for your uninformed and deceived neighbors.

Many people have asked me about water so I thought you might enjoy what Dr. Joseph Mercola has to say on the subject.

“What’s In YOUR Glass of Water?”

If you’re like most people, you probably take your drinking water for granted. You crack open a bottle or turn on the filter on your tap and pour yourself a nice tall glass of cool, sparkling water.

Did you know that the cleanest-looking water isn’t necessarily the healthiest? Sometimes the greatest dangers with drinking water can’t be seen, tasted, or even smelled.

Impurities in your drinking water can come from a number of sources.

There are many different toxic synthetic chemicals used in society today. And, unfortunately, the list grows longer every year.

To make matters worse, even some naturally occurring substances can be harmful when they end up in your drinking water.

Then there’s the question of water treatment and the myriad contaminants that can result from the process of disinfection. Finally, distribution systems and pipes create hazards all on their own.

To be sure, your drinking water is subject to many, many potential points of contamination. And honestly, these potential hazards can vary from water source to water source…

Five Sources of Water – What You Need to Know About Each

Tap Water – Easy, quick, convenient. But how many pollutants lurk in your water? And what is your associated health risk? More on this in just a moment…

Bottled Water – Did you know that 40% of bottled water is actually TAP WATER? With or without added filtration – you’re paying through the nose for it. Worse, an independent test by the Environmental Working Group found arsenic, DPBs and 36 other harmful pollutants hiding in bottled water. Read more about this below…Plastic bottles are a less than optimal idea too. They can contain the potentially hazardous chemical BPA.And the devastating environmental impact is staggering.

Distilled Water – Use with caution… Long-term use can invite health problems, because its minerals are evaporated out. So to try to maintain mineral balance, it sucks minerals out of your body. What’s worse, the contaminants in the water are more concentrated in the finished distilled water. You can just imagine what that does to your health…

Alkaline Water – Although there is some controversy on this, I and most experts believe that this water should be used for short-term detoxification only (1-2 weeks max). Additionally the alkalinization process does NOT filter the water so you need to carefully evaluate the water filter for the specific alkaline water unit it’s using.

Vitamin Waters – Don’t be fooled… Vitamin waters contain high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), artificial colors, additives, preservatives, and caffeine. Even worse… they use distilled water to produce these products – which as you just read, is one of the worst types of water you can consume.

So, to complete the full circle back to tap water…

What the Government Isn’t Telling You About Your Drinking Water

Passed by Congress in 1974, and amended in both 1986 and 1996, the EPA’s Safe Drinking Water Act was intended to ensure safe public drinking water.

It’s been documented that each year there are over 200,000 violations to the Safe Drinking Water Act – involving over 20 percent of water treatment facilities.

However, I have no information that your particular water treatment facility had violations.

EPA standards are based on a 175 lb. male drinking water with only one chemical present.

It’s scientifically recognized that if 2 or more chemicals exist at the same time in your tap water, the synergistic toxicity of those two chemicals greatly magnifies the negative effects.

Imagine what happens when you have 6 or 7 chemicals in your water…

How Your Local Water Company May Be Jeopardizing Your Health

To make your water safe to drink, your local water treatment plant most likely adds chlorine, chlorine dioxide, or chloramines to the water.

The practice of adding chlorine to drinking water began in the late 1800s and by 1904 became the standard in water treatment, and for the most part remains so today.

Chlorine isn’t necessarily used because it’s the safest or even the most effective means of disinfection. It’s used because it is the cheapest and it is highly effective at eliminating water borne infections that are all too common in countries like India and Mexico..

While chlorine effectively kills the harmful, disease-causing microorganisms, an unwanted side effect typically occurs at the same time.

Water supplies naturally contain organic matter, such as decaying vegetation. The chlorine-containing disinfectants react with this matter, generating toxic chemical disinfection byproducts, or DBPs for short.

And here’s the point that I want you to grasp…

Chlorine itself is relatively harmless. Research reveals that the disinfection byproducts (DBPs) produced from chlorine are potentially harmful to your health!

In other words, it’s typically the disinfection byproducts, the DBPs – not chlorine – that are responsible for the potential toxic effects of chlorinated water.

The Potentially Dangerous Effects of Disinfection Byproducts, or DBPs

Some of the more dangerous DBPs created from the chlorination of water include trihalomethanes (THMs) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).

These chlorine byproducts can trigger the production of free radicals in your body.

Three Disinfection Byproducts, or DBPs, You Want to Avoid… At All Costs

Here are some of the more dangerous chlorination byproducts and their associated suspected side effects:

Trihalomethanes (THMs):

Cause cancer in laboratory animals

Trigger the production of free radicals in your body

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs):

Lead to central nervous system depression and drowsiness

Can irritate skin and mucous membranes

Haloacetic Acid (HAAs):

Is a Class B2 probable human carcinogen

May cause liver disease in test animals at very high levels

Are They in Your Drinking Water?

According to a recent New Scientist report, a comprehensive survey of U.S. drinking water reveals that drinking water may contain a host of hormonally active chemicals.

Some of the most frequently found substances included:

MTBE (Methyl-tert-butyl Ether) – a chemical added to fuel to raise octane number; a potential human carcinogen at high doses

Atrazine – a U.S. herbicide banned in the European Union; a known endocrine disruptor, it feminizes wildlife and lab animals, is linked to reproductive problems in lab animals, impairs immune function, and is linked to both breast and prostate cancers in humans

Granted, the levels detected were low. But let me ask you: do you really want to drink someone’s recklessly discarded fuel boosters and pesticides?

I certainly don’t.

Incidentally, the U.S. government does not regulate or set rules for pharmaceuticals or any of these other compounds in your drinking water, except for one: the herbicide Atrazine.

Why Your Body Needs Healthy Water

Your body depends on clean water for countless functions.

Your body depends on clean water to perform its daily functions, such as digestion, temperature and blood regulation, respiration, and detoxification.

In particular, your body’s ability to flush out toxins and properly assimilate nutrients depends heavily on an abundant intake of clean, chemical free water. The more stress, toxins, and pollutants your body battles with each day, the more water it needs.

The quantity and quality of the water you use largely determines your body’s ability to shed excess fat and properly maintain your body’s largest organ, your skin.

While your entire body is 72 percent water, your skin is 80 percent water. Plentiful water is needed to maintain your skin’s elasticity and moisture barrier.

Your blood is over 90 percent water and uses water to transport oxygen, nutrients, and antibodies throughout your body.

How Much Water Does Your Body Really Need?

I’m often asked what is the ideal amount of water to drink on a daily basis.

Eight glasses of water a day is a good
start, but your body may need more

A good rule is to use the color of your urine as a guide. When you’re well hydrated, your urine should be clear, or nearly so.

Please note this guideline does not work when you are taking B supplements with riboflavin which will turn your urine bright yellow.

It’s been estimated that over two-thirds of all people don’t drink enough water, and suffer from some degree of dehydration.

Did you know that just a 5 percent drop in body fluids can cause a 25 to 30 percent loss of energy?

Unfortunately, many people turn to stimulants like caffeine and sugar to boost their energy level when they feel drained.

Problem is, these substances only increase your need for more water, as well as potentially cause a myriad of other health issues.

Next time you feel a drop in your energy, pour yourself a cool, tall glass of water and see if it doesn’t make a difference in how you feel!

Remember Your Kids – They Need Clean Water, Too!

Your children need healthy water when they head out to school and play, just as much, or even more so than you or me.

Children need three times as much water per pound of body weight than adults. As their immune and detoxification systems are not yet fully developed, any ill effects from contaminants in the water are far more impactful to children’s bodies.

Lead in particular is dangerous for kids. Studies show that fluoride, added to most public water supplies, can actually increase your child’s absorption of lead.

Pesticides and herbicides are beginning to show up in school drinking water supplies as well. Since developing children are less capable of fully removing them from their bodies, researchers are increasingly suspecting them as one cause for the exploding number of cases of autism and ADHD.

As attention deficit and hyperactive behavior in children have been linked to changes in levels of thyroid hormone, so are irritability and aggressive behavior. Pesticides and herbicides are proven to adversely affect thyroid hormones.

If You Think Your Child’s School is Protecting Them Against Unsafe Drinking Water – Think Again!

Unfortunately, you can’t always depend upon schools to protect your children against unsafe drinking water. When schools get their water from municipal supplies, as many do, they’re not required to test for toxins.

If your child attends an older school with lead-soldered pipes, he or she may be drinking lead contaminated water. This highly toxic metal can flake off into the water, or simply leech into the water as it sits in the pipes over weekends and holidays.

According to a 2010 National Geographic report, a nationwide investigation discovered that the drinking water in schools in 27 states was contaminated with lead and other toxic substances from lead-soldered pipes installed before 1985. However, I have no information that the water supply at your child’s particular school contains lead.

As bad as lead is for your child, it’s not the only potential concern with your school’s drinking water. In 2009, the Associated Press analyzed school drinking water data from the Environmental Protection Agency and uncovered some disturbing findings.

About 100 school districts and 2,250 schools nationwide were found to have drinking water that violated federal water safety standards, including one out of five schools with well water.

What did they find in the water? Lead, pesticides, and toxins such as coliform bacteria, copper, arsenic, and nitrates. It is for this reason that I suggest packing water for your child for school.

The Most Popular Solution… But is it the Healthiest?

Drinking bottled water opens up a whole new set of health and environmental concerns.

Is drinking bottled water the solution?

Evidently, many people believe so.

Bottled water represents, by far, the fastest growing segment of the beverage industry with annual sales exceeding $11 billion.

How has the bottled water industry created such a demand for a commodity that’s available for free?

By slick marketing tactics and taking advantage of lax governmental regulations.

Playing the message that bottled water is cleaner, and therefore healthier, the bottled water industry has successfully created one of the most incredulous scams of the century.

Here’s how you’ve been duped:

Studies reveal that about 40 percent of bottled water is actually regular tap water with possibly no additional filtering treatment.

The EPA standards that apply to public water supplies do NOT apply to bottled water

There are no restrictions protecting against a source of bottled water being located near industrial facilities or waste dumps.

Overall, bottled water is less regulated than tap water.

A recent Environmental Working Group test uncovered 38 contaminants in 10 brands of bottled water, including DBPs, nitrate, caffeine, arsenic, Tylenol, bacteria and industrial chemicals.

The Problem with Water Bottles

The alarming environmental impact of discarded plastic water bottles.

In the time it takes you to read just this one short sentence, over 8,000 empty water bottles are being thrown away worldwide.

According to the Container Recycling Institute, in the U.S. alone, more than 67 million plastic water bottles are discarded each day. That’s enough empty plastic water bottles to…

Fill 5500 garbage trucks each day.

Bury Manhattan Island one foot deep each day.

Wrap around the planet 149 times each year!

Not easily degraded, empty plastic water bottles have become a major contributor to worldwide pollution.

In fact, water bottles make up a sizable portion of the garbage patch of discarded plastic swirling in the Pacific Ocean just a few hundred miles off the coast.

This enormous plastic “stew” is currently larger than twice the size of Texas and growing rapidly!

The waste issue is not the only problem. According to the Sierra Club, the U.S. alone uses 1.5 million barrels of oil to produce all the water bottles we toss each year.

And along with oil, comes unwanted toxins. The processing of plastic water bottle releases toxic compounds such as nickel, ethylbenzene, ethylene oxide, and benzene into the environment.

What I Believe is the Best Way to Protect Your Child (and Yourself) Against Unsafe Drinking Water

Choose your reusable water container carefully!

As I mentioned earlier, I believe that the best way to protect you’re your child against the uncertainty of school drinking water is to pack clean water you trust from home.

And, of course, you want pure and clean water in a safe, non-toxic, and reusable container.

What kind of container should you choose?

My personal favorite, and the kind I use myself, is glass. Glass is non-toxic and does not leach any undesirable contaminants. If breakage concerns you, purchase a silicone sleeve to slip on the outside to protect the bottle.

If you feel you must use plastic, be sure to select a water bottle designed for reuse labeled with one of the following numbers, as these are known to not leach harmful substances:

High-density polyethylene, labeled as “#2 HDPE”

Low-density polyethylene, labeled as “#4 LDPE”

Polypropylene, labeled as “#5 PP”

Above all, be sure to avoid all plastic bottles labeled “Nalgene”, PVC #3, and Polycarbonate #7. These can leach potential endocrine disruptors and/or highly dangerous dioxins. However, not all plastics labeled with #7 contain BPA. For instance, corn PLA plastic and other biodegradable and renewable resource resins are classified under 7 as well. Be sure to inquire about what #7 plastic is made from before using it.

Make sure the bottle you select – whether it’s glass or one of the safer plastics – has an opening that allows you to hand wash the insides with hot water and a bottle brush.

If not cleaned thoroughly and often, your water bottle will begin to harbor unhealthy bacteria and mold growth – definitely not something you want in your water!

Water Filtering Options

How to Find some of the BEST Water in the World

In my opinion, the finest source of clean water is from a gravity fed mountain spring, directly from where it emerges.

Naturally filtered by the earth and untreated by commercial bottling companies, this fresh, “living” water still contains organisms such as algae, which are beneficial to your health.

Where can you find these gravity fed raw springs? Go to FindaSpring.com to locate a natural spring near you. Most are even monitored by local municipalities for contaminants and are free to use!

It is no mystery that most of us need some type of water filter system. However for nearly ten years I did not offer a water filter system as I wasn’t convinced that I knew enough to recommend one.

After many years of review I have reached some conclusions. Before I share those with you let’s review your options, As you’ll soon see, I believe that your ultimate choice should come down to three factors:

Effectiveness. How many dangerous contaminants is the filter certified to remove? Most importantly, does it remove the toxic disinfection byproducts (DBPs)?

Value. How much, on an on-going basis, will it cost you for clean water? (HINT: Initial costs can be deceiving!)

Ease of Use. If it’s time-consuming and a struggle to install or use, you and your family are less likely to use it.

With these three points in mind, let’s take a closer look at the options available and discover what’s best for you.

What’s YOUR Best Water Filter Option?

Your options basically come down to just a few categories:

Carafe or Pitcher Style Filter
The pour-through pitcher style filter is generally the least effective filter when it comes to removing harmful contaminants.

Certified to remove only five substances, a pitcher-style filter is designed primarily for taste and odor. Most importantly, these typically do NOT remove dangerous THMs, VOCs, and cysts.

Although their initial cost may be only about $25.00, you’ll need to replace cartridges every 30 gallons. All figured, at a whopping cost of 25 cents per gallon, these filters are the most costly on an on-going basis.

Plus if you forget to refill the small reservoir after use, you’re out of water!

Reverse Osmosis Filter
Reverse osmosis (RO) filters, are my personal favorite, but they may not be for everyone. I prefer RO filters because they generally remove more impurities, including hard-to-remove fluoride. However, they also remove natural minerals in the water.

I add the essential minerals back into my water, but it’s an extra step you must remember to do for naturally healthy water. RO filters also tend to be more expensive.

Ion Exchange Filter
Ion exchange is designed to remove dissolved salts in the water, such as calcium. This system actually softens the water or exchanges natural-forming mineral ions in the water with its own ions, thereby neutralizing their harmful effect of creating scale build-up.

The ion exchange system was originally used in boilers and other industrial situations before becoming popular in home purifying units, which usually combine the system with carbon for greater effectiveness.

Distillation Filter
Distillation is the simple process of boiling water to create steam. The steam cools and condenses to form mineral-free water droplets, which are deposited in a container. When combined with carbon, the result is typically 99.9% contaminate-free water.
Like a reverse osmosis filter, all healthy minerals are removed.

Granular Carbon and Carbon Block Filters
These are the most common types of counter top and under counter water filters.

Granular carbon filters and carbon block systems perform the same process of contaminant removal, adsorption, which is the chemical or physical bond of a contaminant to the surface of the filter media.

Granular activated carbon is recognized by the EPA as the best available technology for the removal of organic chemicals like herbicides, pesticides and industrial chemicals. However, one of the downfalls of granular carbon filters is that the loose material inside can channel–the water creates pathways through the carbon material, escaping filtering.

Carbon block filters offer the same superior filtering ability but are compressed with the carbon medium in a solid form. This eliminates channeling and gives the ability to precisely combine multiple media in a sub-micron filter cartridge. By combining different media, the ability to selectively remove a wide range of contaminants can be achieved.

A sub-micron pore structure gives the added benefit of cyst reduction. By creating a sub-micron physical barrier, the filter can eliminate dangerous organisms like Cryptosporidium and Giardia.

Ideally, you want a filtration system that offers a variety of methods to remove different contaminants. Most systems do not address a combination of organic, inorganic, cyst, sediment and metals.

The Foolproof Way to Select a Quality Water Filter

I believe that your best assurance for quality water is to look for California Certification

Unlike bottled water, manufacturers of water filters are required to document the effectiveness of their home filters by many states and by federal regulators if they make claims about effectiveness.

In fact, it’s unlawful in many states, including California, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Iowa, Texas, Florida, and New York to make uncertified claims.

To ensure you are getting the right product for you– and to be guaranteed that the product does what it claims – I recommend looking for certification by the California Department of Health.

I believe that your best assurance for quality water is to look for California Certification

Underwriters, Laboratories, and NSF Water Quality Certification also provide strict requirements for water filters and are a helpful tool for comparing performance and value.

However, California’s regulations are the strictest in the industry, and generally provide the greatest consumer protection when purchasing a water filter.

California requires manufacturers to submit advertising and packaging materials for review by the Department of Health prior to certification.

You can be assured that your water filter truly removes the contaminants listed on its certification when you insist on the seal of California Certification. Please remember that it is very important to maintain this water treatment device according to the manufacturer’s instructions, including replacement of filters.”*

I wish to express my appreciation and gratitude to all of you who have expressed your sympathy on the death of my mother. For those of you who did not have the opportunity to meet her, I have enclosed a copy of her obituary.

Many of you know that I was my mother’s care giver for the past ten and a half years. I thank you for your understanding of the constraints on my time. Many times our conversations were brief or delayed due to seeing to her needs. Thank you for your understanding and willingness to work with my schedule.

As the first woman to receive a PhD degree in her field of speech pathology, orofacial myology, and audiology, Mother used the technology my father and brother developed called hair analysis, to predetermine potential speech and hearing problems in new born babies and young children. Her work was a world first and offered intervention and correction help to young children before they entered school. She also created the original program in public schools for therapists to screen students for speech and hearing problems and then developed the corrective programs for therapists to use. This program was implemented through out the United States and was another world first for her. She was also instrumental in developing programs for Head Start, Russia, New Zealand, and in Australia. In England, Queen Elizabeth told my mother that she couldn’t possibly be from across ‘the Pond” because she spoke “the Queens English”. Mother assured her that not only was she from “the Pond” but that she lived in the “Wild West” in Utah. Mom had a great sense of humor.

My mother financially supported our family while my father began Albion Laboratories and later discovered how to create amino acid chelated minerals that duplicate the bodies natural chelation process. Without her belief in my father and his work, Life Zone would not exist as we know it today.

I owe a lot to the dedication of both of my parents for improving the quality of life and being a positive influence for so many people around the world in their prospective fields of work and education.
Again, please accept my appreciation for each of you and for your kind support at a time that has been difficult for me.

Sincerely,
Dr. Janeel A. Henderson

Think about it. A common, everyday item that traditionally is used to convey the written word. How many of us would consider a pencil as art? Probably not many of us. We would think, instead, of a pencil as a vehicle to impart art such as drawing or sketching a picture, or drawing a doodle, or connecting the dots to outline a picture but would we really see a pencil as a piece of art?

I am a Nutritionist. I work with minerals. Minerals come from the earth. They are found in the soil, in rocks, in sea water, in plants and in fish and animals. Do we ever think of them as art? Probably not. They are thought of as elements of nutrition. But look at what they support –Life-! Life as we know it would not exist without minerals. Our bodies can not make them. They must be provided to the body. But once provided the intelligence of the body and cells knows how to convert them into amino acid chelated minerals that become an integral part of the art minerals, like pencils, can become something greater than the sum of its parts and we become the beneficiary of that art. Appreciate the art that is you.

I was invited to lecture on nutrition to a group of individuals who have ADD/ADHD children or are associated with someone who has been diagnosed ADD/ADHD. It was a wonderful evening spent with some really dedicated and concerned individuals. At the end of the presentation I was asked to give a list of all the names of food that MSG is in but not necessarily labeled MSG. So for all of the seminar participants who gave me their email, here is the list I was referring to.

Label Ingredients that ALWAYS contain MSG:

Monosodium Glutamate, Monopotassium Glutamate, Hydrolyzed Protein (any and all), Yeast Food, Gelatin (yes even Jello), Yeast Nutrient, Yeast Extract, Glutamic Acid, Sodium Caseinate, Hydrolyzed Corn Gluten, Textured Protein, Autolyzed Yeast

Ingredients that often contain MSG, or create it during processing:

Carrageenan, Citric Acid, Bouillon and Broth, Maltodextrin, Soup Stocks, Ultra Pasteurized, Barley Malt, Pectin, Protease, Protease Enzymes, Soy Protein Isolate, Natural Pork Flavoring, Natural Beef Flavoring, Natural Chicken Flavoring, Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein, Soy Sauce, Enzyme or Enzyme Modified, Malt Flavoring, Soy Protein, Soy Protein Concentrate, Malt Extract.

Any ingredient labeled “Fermented”and /or “Protein Fortified”.
Natural Flavors & Seasonings which is very often a catch-all for MSG based food enhancing ingredients, especially in condiments, spices, and salt products.

All vaccines contain MSG as does I.V. drips. Nasal sprays, and liquid medicines (you have to check with your Pharmacists to find out if it is in your prescription)

Certain yeast products like Brewer’s Yeast are safe to use and is different than ‘autolyzed yeast’
Naturally “fermented” products such as apple cider vinegar and specific probiotic or “friendly” bacteria on certain whole food extracts are also safe.

Several individuals have request an outline of my presentation so here it is (sorry it is so long)

Outline:

1. The 6 elements of nutrition the body must have to sustain and maintain life

A. Protein (amino acids) repair and regenerate organs, tissues, cells, may provide vitamins and minerals to the the body
B. Carbohydrates (energy) fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, deserts. May provide vitamins and minerals
C. Fat (energy) needed for healthy brain, protection for internal organs, synergistic for oil soluble vitamins
D. Water (hydrate and help elimination) No fluoride or chlorine or distilled
E. Vitamins
F. Minerals
G. HERBS ARE NOT AN ELEMENT OF NUTRITON; THEY FOLLOW THE DRUG PATHWAY IN THE BODY

2. Minerals are involved in every bio-chemical function of the body. Without minerals there is death-body can’t make them.

A. All of the elements of nutrition require minerals bio-available in order to function and work in body
B. Enzymes and Hormones also require minerals in order to work in body but are not elements of nutrition

3. Two categories of minerals both forms are natural

A. Amino acid chelated mineral natural-organic form
B. Inorganic minerals only natural NOT organic
C. Rattlesnake venom
D. BEWARE of misleading addvertisment

4. 18 barriers to the body that prevent it being able to chelate a natural mineral into a natural-organic mineral.

A. Bio-availability of natural amino acid chelated minerals
B. Very poor bio-availability of natural minerals
C. Non-chelated minerals within the body must either be
1. eliminated from body into the toilet Grass grows greener over the septic tank Erma Brombeck
2. absorbed into specific body areas but body not able to access and use them. Future sites for health problems to occur as the unused minerals build a toxic level in the body and enter past the brain barrier (aluminum, lead, mercury, cadmium, etc.)

5. Discuss and list the 18 barriers that prohibit the body making an amino acid chelated mineral from dietary food or from natural inorganic minerals

A. Natural inorganic minerals CHEMICALLY react in the body with drugs, over the counter products, herbs, dietary fiber, prescription medicines, homeopathic remedies and even food in certain circumstances
B. Genuine amino acid chelated minerals DO NOT enter into these chemical reactions in the body. Safe to take with prescription drugs, food, and other therapies

6. Mineral deficiencies causes

A. Soil is mineral deficient
B. Processing of food
C. Man made food
D. Adulterated food
E. Genetic modified (altered) food
F. Stress– 5 minutes can deplete mineral reserves in body

7. Dangers to the brain

A. MSG
B. Aspartame and ALL sweeteners and sugars including high fructose sugar, corn syrup, splenda, and Stevia if it has been adulterated, etc.
C. Alcohol
D. Tobacco
E. Soft drinks
F. Caffeine
G. Preservatives
H. Food coloring
I. Flavoring
J. Soy and soy foods
K. Whole grains (gluten)
L. Dairy
M. Some drugs including over the counter
N. Some herbs
O. Electromagnetic energy fields (T.V., cell phone, computers etc.)
P. Environmental pollution
Q. Fluoride
R. Heavy metals
S. Chlorine
There are many more things that can be added to the list, these are the major ones

8. Solutions:

A. Use a multiple vitamin/mineral that contains all minerals as genuine amino acid chelated minerals
B. Eat a balanced diet
1. Choose low glycemic index foods from carbohydrate group of food
2. Eat grass fed beef, chicken
3. Avoid hormone enhanced foods (eggs, meat, dairy)
4. Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly to remove pesticides, chemicals, waxes etc.
(Give formula for cleaning all produce)
C. Drink pure water not other forms of beverages
D. Avoid stimulants in food, beverages, drinks etc.
E. Take EFA daily for healthy brain
F. Increase Ca and Mg as amino acid chelates to replace lead and mercury in body joints
G. Take SOD formula using genuine amino acid chelated formula to remove toxic metals from behind brain barrier, provide protection from free radicals, provide anti-oxidant protection etc.
H. Sufficient sleep
I. Daily exercise (dancing, ping pong-table tennis)
J. Reduce stress
